TORONTO – triOS College is excited about an upcoming partnership with Niagara Ina Grafton Gage Village, made possible by the Living Classroom grant. This initiative will offer students unparalleled opportunities to gain real-world experience by learning directly in a Long-Term Care (LTC) home while completing their education.

The Living Classroom is an innovative partnership model that integrates education directly into a long-term care or retirement home, fostering workforce development in senior living. This collaboration, beginning in the summer of 2024, brings together students, faculty, and the home’s residents, visitors, and staff, creating a culture of shared learning and mutual benefit.

“Our upcoming partnership with Niagara Ina Grafton Gage Village represents a significant step forward in how we prepare our students for successful careers in healthcare”, said triOS President Stuart Bentley. “This hands-on approach not only equips our students with essential skills and real-world experience but also fosters meaningful connections within the community.”

“We are thrilled to host the delivery of the PSW program offered by triOS College”, said Claudia D’Jesus, Manager, Human Resources and Volunteer/Student Services at Niagara Ina Grafton Gage Village. “This is an incredible opportunity, not only for the students, but also for our residents and staff who will become mentors for developing workforce-ready healthcare professionals. We look forward to creating a hub of excellence in senior care in partnership with an important educational institution like triOS College.”

Personal Support Worker students at triOS College’s new St. Catharines campus will benefit from a comprehensive learning environment in a dedicated classroom within a Long-Term Care home. This includes theoretical lessons, practical labs, and hands-on placements, ensuring they are well-prepared for the workforce with skills to deliver compassionate care. The initiative also offers immediate employment opportunities, fostering seamless transitions to practical application, professional networking, and easier access to localized education. Students will graduate as workforce-ready Personal Support Workers equipped to care for older adults and their families.

By establishing this innovative learning environment, triOS College aims to broaden our student base, providing them with a comprehensive educational experience and ensuring strong job placements upon completion.
