ParaMed Partners with triOS College to Provide Free PSW Training in Ottawa Area
November 12th, 2020
triOS College and ParaMed are joining forces to train and prepare new Personal Support Workers (PSWs) living in the Ottawa area, Eastern Counties, and Renfrew County. This partnership is designed to deliver free training to 26 PSWs with guaranteed employment with ParaMed subject to a one year commitment.
The Canadian healthcare industry has experienced growth over recent years due to our aging population and, more recently, COVID-19 has heightened the critical need for the essential work of PSWs. ParaMed and triOS are responding to these needs with an innovative training partnership. The training is completely free and students will be able to earn money and work with ParaMed after just 9 weeks of training.
“We are excited to be working with ParaMed to help meet the urgent needs of this growing industry”, said Stuart Bentley, President triOS College. “This partnership will help students quickly start their career in healthcare, at no cost, and with the ability to start earning money working with ParaMed after 9 weeks. We’ve trained over 3,000 PSWs in our campuses since 2004 and partnered with several healthcare agencies to offer onsite PSW training solutions in cities like Barrie, London, and the Niagara area where PSWs are in high demand. We’re looking forward to welcoming the 26 PSWs from this initiative into the family of triOS grads.”
“We have chosen to partner with triOS College due to their extensive experience in delivering custom Personal Support Worker training programs for healthcare organizations throughout Ontario. They provide a full solution from recruitment through to graduation. Students are able to work for ParaMed while they are taking the training due to the scheduling model triOS College uses” says Ali Mir, Vice President of Operations, ParaMed.
Details of the training partnership include:
- free training for 26 PSWs in the Ottawa area with guaranteed employment
- free training is subject to a one year working commitment with ParaMed after graduation
- to ensure the safety of students and staff, class training will be delivered remotely followed by hands-on practical training in the facilities
- students can begin to work with ParaMed after 9 weeks as they continue their training toward becoming a Personal Support Worker
- training is expected to begin in November 2020
