triOS College Redesigns Graphic Design Diploma for Today’s Job Market

February 20th, 2026 / By Michelle King-Tracey, Brand Manager and Faculty Head for Digital Marketing and Graphic Design

The demand for design talent is stronger than ever, even as artificial intelligence changes how creative work is done. According to the Robert Half Canada Demand for Skilled Talent Report, many organisations plan to increase hiring in marketing and creative areas in 2026, with employers actively seeking skilled professionals who bring both technical ability and creative thinking to their teams.

At triOS College we have redesigned our Graphic Design Using AI + Internship diploma to reflect these trends. Previously offered as a 61-week program, it is now delivered in an accelerated 37-week format, helping students become job ready sooner without compromising depth or quality.

This program is offered through Remote instructor-led classes held on a set schedule using live online video, providing structured, interactive instruction with direct faculty support.

Design Skills Still Matter in a Tech-Driven World

Data from Figma illustrates that most organizations around the world report stable or increasing demand for design roles, and many have seen significant growth in hiring designers. Businesses across sectors are hiring designers to strengthen digital engagement, brand communication, and visual strategy, proving that design remains integral to competitive success in the digital economy.

In Canada, the Robert Half report highlights ongoing demand for creative talent and the importance of specialized skills. Many employers plan to grow creative teams and fill roles that support visual communication, brand identity, content production, and campaign execution.

What This Program Offers

The redesigned diploma provides students with a focused foundation in design while also addressing the modern expectations of employers. The curriculum includes:

  • Adobe Photoshop with Generative AI
  • Adobe Illustrator and Adobe InDesign
  • Motion graphics and video editing
  • Designing websites using Artificial Design Intelligence
  • Business and entrepreneurship training
  • Portfolio development for professional presentation

Generative AI for Design teaches students how to integrate AI tools thoughtfully and responsibly into professional workflows, supporting both efficiency and creative decision-making.

Professional Experience and Career Preparation

The integrated 8-week internship allows students to apply their classroom learning in real workplace settings, build portfolio quality work, and gain confidence working with teams and real stakeholders.

Career planning and readiness are woven throughout the program. Students graduate with refined resumes, optimized LinkedIn profiles, interview preparation experience, and a clear job search strategy.

As Faculty Head and Corporate Brand Manager, I see first-hand how employers are balancing technology with human centered creative skills. This redesign was intentional. By streamlining the program while incorporating current industry trends, real world experience, and practical skills, we are preparing students to enter the workforce with confidence and relevance.

Design will always require human insight, creative problem solving, and thoughtful communication. This diploma supports students in developing those skills while preparing for meaningful creative careers that continue to grow in demand.
