Supply Chain Student Receives Reward at Placement

January 29th, 2021

It’s no secret that the COVID-19 pandemic is causing many of us to make pivots and readjust our daily lives. While the whole world navigates this complex issue, we have seen exemplary examples from government, celebrities, philanthropists, and local heroes who are doing what they can to aid others in during this trying time. Chuck Berry, one of our current Supply Chain & Logistics students has been completing his internship as a dispatcher for the Waterloo Walk-in Clinic.  His role involves taking calls for COVID-19 tests, scheduling, and/or arranging transportation, if needed, and putting calls through to 911, when necessary.

Dispatchers are capable of collecting a significant amount of vitally important, high-quality information that they can utilize to assist in supporting others in their time of need.

Chuck was chosen as a candidate from a group of 29 dispatchers based on criteria such as call volume, quality, etc., but in Chuck’s case what stood out was the positive feedback he received from callers.  His supervisor, Rex, said that Chuck has a “gift” for this type of work.

As a reward, Chuck received a certificate and a cheque as a token of appreciation for his hard work and dedication. We are so very proud to see the amazing work of students like Chuck.

Congratulations and kudos are in order!

The impact of the clinic’s work was so strongly felt amongst the community that it made the news! Learn more about this exciting development here: https://kitchener.ctvnews.ca/walk-in-clinic-transforms-into-covid-19-testing-site-1.5271723
