TORONTO – The Ontario government recently announced financial assistance opportunities for Ontarians who wish to pursue a Personal Support Worker (PSW) career. This $54.7 million funding will be available to up to 4,000 new PSW students, who will enroll at a participating private career college between June 1 and September 30, 2022. Eligible students can receive up to $13,690 to cover their tuition, books, other mandatory fees, and a wage stipend for their clinical placement.

“We are excited by this Ontario Government initiative to support increasing capacity within Ontario’s healthcare system,” said Stuart Bentley, President of triOS College. “triOS College has actively trained and graduated thousands of PSW students into new careers and works closely with Long-Term Care and Home Care partners to ensure students receive practical hands-on training and experience to become job-ready graduates.”

triOS College’s 31-week PSW program can hone your clinical and administrative skills. It includes a 12-week placement, where you can gain hands-on experience and apply the theories you will learn. In addition, you will be prepared to look after patients and help them with their activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, or managing their medication. Plus, with triOS College’s remote learning modality, you can safely and conveniently attend online classes in the comfort of your own home — or wherever you prefer — then complete your placement in a participating long-term care facility in Ontario.

Aside from being a promising career in the continuously growing healthcare field, working as a PSW also gives you the freedom to select your workplace. Choose from working in a long-term care home, hospital, home care, or retirement home — or be your own boss as a self-employed worker and work at your client’s home.
