Meet Your Instructors: Brandy John, Massage Therapy Faculty Head
June 4th, 2026
For Brandy John, teaching Massage Therapy is about helping students build the skills, confidence, and professional mindset they need to enter the field.
With 28 years of experience as a Registered Massage Therapist and 26 years of teaching experience, Brandy brings a practical, well-rounded perspective to the Massage Therapy program at triOS College. As Faculty Head and Instructor, she supports students as they learn to connect classroom theory with hands-on client care.
Brandy’s interest in teaching started early. Throughout her own schooling, she often found herself tutoring and helping others work through new concepts. That love of learning and mentorship has shaped much of her career, from clinical practice to curriculum development to massage therapy education.
Today, one of the most rewarding parts of her role is seeing students recognize how much they can achieve.
“One of the greatest joys I have as an instructor is seeing my students graduate and continue to enjoy learning and growing,” says Brandy.
As students move through the program, Brandy watches them build confidence, strengthen their practical skills, and begin to see themselves as part of the massage therapy profession.
Brandy holds an Honours Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Toronto and a Massage and Hydrotherapy diploma from Canadian Therapeutic College. She is also certified in medical acupuncture and reflexology. Alongside her work at triOS, she continues to practice as a Registered Massage Therapist, bringing current client-care experience into the classroom.
That real-world connection is central to her teaching. Massage Therapy is a hands-on healthcare profession, and students need to understand how assessment, treatment planning, communication, professionalism, and clinical decision-making come together in client care. Through practical learning, simulations, supervised clinic experience, and outreach opportunities, students gain exposure to client needs they may encounter in the field.
Brandy is also active in the broader massage therapy education community. She currently serves as President of the Canadian Council of Massage Therapy Schools and President of the Ontario College of Private Massage Therapy Colleges. She is also an ambassador and editorial committee member with the Registered Massage Therapists’ Association of Ontario, and has contributed to professional writing, textbook review, curriculum development, and accreditation work.
For Brandy, graduation is not the end of the story. She has seen former students go on to work in clinics, open practices, join associations, contribute to committees, and become instructors themselves. Watching students grow into peers is one of the reasons she continues to teach.
Outside of the classroom and clinic, Brandy enjoys spending time in nature with her family and continuing to learn something new every day.
